Speaker 1:

For my American friends, today is election day and it feels like a very big election and regardless of what side of the political aisle you are on, it is probably going to be a pretty anxiety-inducing day, unless you don't give a crap about politics and you're not paying attention. But if you are and you're starting to feel that twang of apprehension and anxiety kicking up, then this episode is for you. Let's get started. Welcome to Calm and Centered AF. My name is Cheryl Reynolds and I am your host. This podcast is for my intuitive ladies who are looking to deepen and expand their intuitive edge while experiencing a sense of clarity, peace of mind and a whole lot of joy. And I'll help you do just that by kicking overwhelm to the curb, ditching your anxiety and helping you to stop chasing those shiny objects like a distracted squirrel. It's time for you to grab your cup of coffee and settle in so you can feel calm and centered AF. It is a busy world out there and information streams at us fast and furious. It becomes way too much and sometimes it makes you feel like you're in a constant state of overwhelm. And on top of that you begin to overthink and overanalyze everything. It is exhausting, and I bet you were so over it.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the podcast. I am Cheryl, your host. First thing I want you to do take a big, deep breath in hold for the count of two and exhale twice as long. Now shake it out. Give yourself a big body. Shake, shake, shake. Move your body around, shake. We carry a lot of energy in our body and we don't even know where half of it is. In our shoulders, in our neck. We're walking around with resting bitch face, it's all there. Just kind of shake everything out and then just listen to my voice, and the only thing I want you to do is listen to my voice. If you're driving or doing something important, pay attention to that, but otherwise, just listen to me, hear my voice, hear my tone and, as you do that, focus in for a moment to the sound of my voice, in for a moment to the sound of my voice, my strange Rhode Island accent, the pauses between my words, the way that my voice is beginning to calm you down, and just imagine for a moment that there is nothing else outside of you and me right now, no matter what, we're all in this together. We are all under the same blanket of Americans. We are all under the same flag and in the long run, we all hope for the best for our country, no matter what happens later on, tonight or tomorrow. Right now, in this, second by second by second moment in time, you are okay. You're all right. If you're listening to me, you're all right. And any time throughout the day and any time throughout the day that you start to project and worry about what's going to happen tomorrow, what's going to happen next month, come back to the present moment. Come back to the fact that it is as simple as are you breathing, is your heart beating? Are you in a safe place? Then you're all right. That's the bottom line. You can project and push out every scenario you want to. That could be good or horrific, but that is just your brain mucking up your day. Because if you bring yourself back to the present moment, you're fine. And I ask you right now are you in the present moment with me? Are you listening to my voice, paying attention to my words, my dialect, my tone? Perhaps now you're starting to feel more relaxed. I've been told I have a voice that puts people to sleep. Perhaps you're getting sleepy or not. Try this with me. Notice something in front of you, and just. It could be a bottle of water, a lamp, even a cup. Just look at it for a moment, without judgment. Notice its size, the shape, the color. Just notice it. Now find another object in your vicinity and do the same. And if you have nothing around you, then look at your hand. You always have that. And now just take a moment and focus on the one thing you hear Could be my voice, car going by, the humming of your refrigerator. Notice the sound without judgment. Notice how that sound moves from one ear to the other. Just notice. Take a deep breath, hold for the count of two and exhale twice as long. Again, take a deep breath, hold for the count of two and exhale twice as long. Remember you are okay. Right now, you're fine.

Speaker 1:

And anytime you start to put yourself in the future and worrying about something that you think or that might happen, the future does not exist. It's a concept. It's a concept. It's a thought. You're putting yourself down the rabbit hole by a thought. Stop it. I'm going to give you a two by four. Stop it. Think about it. You're putting yourself in a total spin and complete anxiety over a thought in your head. Bring yourself back to the present moment Anytime you get worked up. Find something to look at, focus on that, find something you can hear, focus on that. Take a few deep breaths.

Speaker 1:

Now, I talked a little bit about this on the last podcast episode. I also did a breathing technique and I would suggest you go back to that it is episode eight and use that breathing technique. And again, I cannot stress enough you are okay In this moment, this present moment. You're fine. Remember that and I will see you on the next podcast episode. I thank you for listening all the way to the end of this podcast. I appreciate you more than you know.
